Tedesco & Lopez Serve As Guest Speakers At National Coaches Convention

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (June 18, 2019) – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swimming & diving coaches Sean Tedesco and Johan C. Lopez served as guest speakers at the recent College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Convention in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

After giving one of the highest rated presentations at the 2018 convention, the CSCAA invited Tedesco back to present again this year. Tedesco's presentations on personal finance were focused at putting coaches on a personal financial path that could allow them to enjoy a lifetime of coaching. He has presented a version of this same presentation to Midshipmen a number of times right here at USMMA, always getting very positive reviews. Tedesco also led the Division III Breakout Session discussing D3 issues, NCAA Championships, etc.

Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA, commented that "(Tedesco) has, rather unexpectedly, become one of our most popular convention speakers. His message of fiscal responsibility should be required of every coach."

Lopez, who just finished the third of his four appointed seasons on the NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Committee, found himself one of the most involved diving coaches at the convention this year. He led two different sessions over the course of the event, specifically discussing coaching risks and high-level competition during those presentations, while also playing a key role in the DIII Breakout Session.

At the request of the CSCAA executive director, Lopez will work this year with two other coaches to generate more diving representation at next year's convention.

Both coaches look forward to continuing their professional development contributions to this important annual event.
