EDGEWATER, N.J. (April 23, 2017) – The USMMA tennis team lost its Skyline Conference matchup at first-place Yeshiva, 8-1, on Sunday at the Maccabees' home courts at the Binghamton Racquet Club in New Jersey. In defeat, the Mariners fall to 7-4 (5-2 Skyline) on the season, while the Maccabees improve to 11-1 (6-0 Skyline).
The Macs swept the doubles action, with the #2 Mariner duo of senior Jordan Kendall (Winter Haven, Fla.) and freshman Justin McGaffigan (Quincy, Mass.) giving their counterparts a test, going down in a 9-8 match after losing the tie-breaker, 7-4.
In singles play, McGaffigan was the only Mariner to earn a point on the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #3.
Up next, the Mariners are on the road at St. Joseph's of Long Island this Wednesday, April 26. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. out at the Golden Eagles' Outdoor Field Complex on their campus in Patchogue, Suffolk County, N.Y.
