Mariners Close Out Season With Loss To Top-Seeded Yeshiva In Skyline Semis

FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 3, 2019) – The USMMA tennis team had its season come to an end on Friday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to top-seed Yeshiva University in the semifinals of the 2019 Skyline Conference Championship. 

The #1 doubles pairing of senior Daniel Zakrveski (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and freshman Connor Campbell (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned the lone point in the match for the Mariners with an 8-3 victory over YU senior Mikey Ozery and junior Avidan Rudansky. The Maccabees led 2-1 after doubles action, however, claiming wins at #3 and #2 to start the match. 

The Macs finished the match with three straight wins in singles at #3, #6 and #4, and they will now move on to face #2-seed Farmingdale State in the Skyline Finals this Saturday. 

The Mariners end the season with a 6-7 overall record, including a 4-3 mark in Skyline action, which had earned them the #4 seed in the Skyline Tournament.
