Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Mount St. Mary At Home, 12-9

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (April 19, 2017) – The USMMA women's lacrosse team lost its home Skyline Conference contest to visiting Mount St. Mary, 12-9, on Wednesday night at Brooks Stadium. In defeat, the Mariners fall to 4-5 (2-3 Skyline), while the Knights improve to 4-6 (3-2 Skyline).
 
Freshman Angela Parker (Bowie, Md.) recorded a hat trick, while classmate Grace McHugh (Sturbridge, Mass.) led the Mariners with five points on two goals and three assists. Senior A Jordan Pappas (Howell, N.J.) also scored twice for Merchant Marine, while classmate Gabby Marionakis (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) added a goal and an assist and sophomore Elizabeth Livi (Fair Lawn, N.J.) also found the back of the net.
 
Junior Sarah Milafsky (Aurora, Colo.) and sophomore goalie Hannah Gizzi (Finksburg, Md.) both contributed one assist to the offense. Between the pipes, Gizzi made eight saves. Parker led the Mariners with five groundballs and five draw controls and was one of seven players to cause one turnover.
 
The Knights were led by senior Katie Gattoni, who recorded a game-high six points on four goals and two assists. Freshman Kayla Gilligan added a hat-trick and classmate Mikaela Rios chipped in with two goals and an assist. In net, sophomore Amanda Picillo made 13 saves to pick up the victory.
 
The Mariners are on the road this Saturday, April 22, when they travel out to Patchogue, N.Y., to take on St. Joseph's of Long Island in Skyline Conference action. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m. Live stats for the contest will be available at this link.
