McHugh Notches 100th Career Point In Mariners’ 21-5 Skyline Win At Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (April 9, 2019) – Junior Grace McHugh (Sturbridge, Mass.) needed five points to reach 100 in her career coming into Merchant Marine's road Skyline contest with Old Westbury on Tuesday and she recorded a game-high six (four goals and two assists) to lead the Mariners to a 21-5 victory. The win keeps USMMA undefeated at 10-0 (3-0 Skyline), while the Panthers fall to 2-9 (1-2 Skyline) in defeat. 

McHugh becomes the fourth Mariner in the "100-point club" in program history, as she joins seniors Meredith Willard (Portland, Maine), Jessica Reilly (Sayville, N.Y.) and Maura Malone (Yorktown, Va.).

Reilly registered five points in the game with three goals and two assists, while Willard and freshman Jessie Wohner (Norfolk, Va.) both had three goals and one helper each. 

Junior Angela Parker (Bowie, Md.) found the back of the net three times and freshman Maddie Schmidt (Mechanicsville, Va.) also recorded three points with one tally and two assists. Malone and sophomore Kelly Midas (Clarksville, Md.) both scored twice to round out the Mariners' scorers. 

Senior goalie Hannah Gizzi (Finksburg, Md.) made four saves to pick up her 10th win of the season. Reilly and Malone both registered a game-high seven draw controls each, while Malone scooped up a team-best three groundballs. Midas led all players in the game with three caused turnovers. 

For Old Westbury, senior Natasha Treuman had three points on two goals and an assist, while freshman Hope Matthews scored twice. Freshman goalie Tazmeya Allen made 12 save in the losing effort.
