Lou, Korengel & Hunt Nab Skyline Women’s Swim & Dive Weekly Honors

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Jan. 16, 2019) – The Skyline Conference announced on Tuesday that three USMMA student-athletes swept the women's swimming & diving weekly honors, as junior Erica Lou (Flushing, N.Y.) was named the Swimmer of the Week, senior Kara Korengel (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned Diver of the Week honors and freshman Samantha Hunt (Franklin, Texas) was recognized as the Rookie of the Week.

The accolades come after their performances in the Mariners' two victories last week – on the road at non-conference opponent Hunter on Tuesday night and home against Skyline foe Mount St. Mary on Saturday.

Lou won all three events she swam in on Tuesday against the Hawks – individually, she touched first in the 400 individual medley in 5:02.03 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.45, and she was also part of the 200 medley relay team that started the night with a victory in 1:58.89. On Saturday against the Knights, the junior won three of the four events she took part in – the 100 breast in 1:16.70, the 200 IM in 2:27.60 and she was a part of the 200 MR team that won in 1:57.99. She also came in second in the 200 backstroke in 2:21.94.

On Saturday, Korengel came in first place in both the one-meter dive (212.85) and the three-meter dive (208.13).

Hunt was victorious in the 200 butterfly in 2:24.82 on Tuesday night at Hunter, while also serving as the last leg of the 200 MR team that won in 1:58.99. She also came in second place as part of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished in 1:49.03. On Saturday against MSMC, the freshman won three of the four events she swam in – the 200 fly (2:23.56) and as part of both the 200 MR team (1:57.99) and the 200 free relay team (1:45.91) – while also placing second in the 100 fly in 1:04.10.
